Gwen withdrew her arm. "Thank you, I meant for you to shake but I suppose I'll let it go...this once." She leaned her head slightly to one side, no one had done that in a setting outside a formal greeting at the estate. She tugged on her newly repaired sleeve and glanced sideways at Allie. Her friend was now staring and David anf Gwen knew no good could come of Allie getting worked uo over that boy.

[glow=green,2,300]"My apologizes, I meant no harm..." he said a bit embarrassed. William did not mean to make Gwen uncomfortable, he had been raised with old world values, to be polite and charming. His customs were a bit different then others, he supposed, perhaps ladies weren't used to a gentleman...[/glow]

Gwen smiled though somewhat more reservedly than before. "No harm done. It was merely unexpected. However it is nice to see someone who so obviously comes from a good family. It took me a long time to adjust to regular behaviours when I first started Hogwarts. But now I spend so much time here I have to get re-used to my family every summer." Gwen pulled her hair away from her face and tied it into a lose bun. "Besides we're both slytherin's there should be no cause for embarrasment between us. For all intents and purposes, during the school year at least, we're like family."

[glow=green,2,300]William smiled happily, she understood him. It was nice not to have to explain himself, it never really bothered him but it not being necessary was refreshing. "Thank you, I am so pleased that someone understands, yes family..."[/glow]

David stood noisily and stomped off to his common room. No more, not one second more of this. He needed to sleep and nothing else but sleep. Then in the morning he would fly. He didn't need this not a shred of it. He spilled a pitcher of pumpkin juice on his way out but did not stop to clean it up. Who cares, he thought, who cares about what I do. "can I go anywhere without leaving a mess behind." he muttered under his breath then he was out the door.

[glow=green,2,300]William watched David leave, and couldn't help feeling that at least some of this was his fault. "I-I...don't know what to say..."[/glow]

Gwen shook her head "Don't bother. He gets upset like this all the time it's nothing to worry about." She pointed her wand at the spill and her magic wicked it away. "I think everyone wants to think they are understood. It makes us feel like we belong. But auctually being understood having another person know your every flaw and habit along with why you have them." she closed her eyes and saw marrionet strings attached to her body. She opened them quickly to dispell the image. "You would be theirs completely. Lock, Stick and Barrel. I could never accept that." Gwen smiled goofily "sorry, I was a little weird there for a moment. She could feel the heat in her cheeks indicating that she was flushing a delicate shade of pink.

[glow=green,2,300]"Oh." If that was how David was William couldn't help but feel sorry for him and his insecurity. William couldn't help smiling at Gwen, she was smart, but scared it seemed. "You just have to make sure that the one you give yourself to will take good care of you. I wouldn't mind belonging completely to someone that loved me with all their heart and would never let any harm come to me, because I would do the same for them...whoever they are. If they love you they would keep the information that you gave them in confidence and never use it against you...a cage goes both ways, it keeps you in...and out..." William noticed Gwen's cheeks flushing a light pink, "Please do not be embarrassed, we are family..." he said smiling sweetly.[/glow]

"I envy you." she swallowed "To be capable of such trust, to be so confident in love. It must be liberating even if it does cage you. I would rather be in danger in the open than safe in a cage no matter how nice it looks. Maybe I will outgrow it, my fear of, well I don't quite know what of " Gwen brought a hand to her cheek "Yes, for all intents and purposes."

[glow=green,2,300]"That's mostly my mother talking, but she did try to instill trust in me, I suppose it worked. "You may not have to grow out of it, it may just happen, when the right person comes along it becomes...easier." he smiled "Exactly, I shall do you no harm dear Gwen, and neither shall anyone of our house. You are safe, and as you can plainly see...not caged." [/glow]

Gwen bit her lip "I suppose you could be right. I shall have to wait and see won't I?" She tapped her fingers lightly on the table top "Maybe I already am in a cage." all the decorum, loyalty, and duty she embraced was an enclosure of her own design and a small one at that. "What is your mother like" she wondered about a woman who could instill so much trust in her son.

[glow=green,2,300]William smirked happily, "She is...well, quite wonderful. Her name is Stella Antoinette Thacher, born a Rothklein. She was put into Slytherin like my father, but I don't think I would have put her in Slytherin, perhaps Ravenclaw as she is very intelligent. She was raised in a loving and wealthy environment, same as me, and is in no way spoiled. She normally gets her way but she always manages to get it without causing harm to others, which I find remarkable. As long as I or my father have known her, she has always being trusting, it was the way she raised, her parents are amazing. She was also brought up to believe in herself, she confident in herself and her abilities so even when someone does betray her she is able to deal with them. Though, that hasn't happened very often, she's so sweet not many people have messed with her but those that do never do it again..."[/glow]

Gwen smiled "She sounds wonderful." She thought about what her life would have been had her own mother acted similarly. Gwen abandoned the fantasy if her mother had been diffirent than she herself would not be who she was. "Perfect even." She took a small sip of pumpkin juice. "Allie what do yiu think of all this trust and cage buisness." Gwen asked because Allie knew what it was like to be trapped with her difficult to manage powers.

Gwen giggled "It would ruin it if she thought she was perfect wouldn't it." She rested her chin on her hand, not in a gesture of boredom but to help hold her head up. She was getting tired. She would have to go to the dorm's soon but she wnted to keep taking as long as she could manage.
