"I'm so sorry." Charity said instantly. She chewed her bottom lip and looked down at her cold soup. "So, you've had a complicated life, I gather?" She already knew the answer, but for some reason she couldn't point out, it needed to be heard.

He looks at her, "I made the best of it, I came from a well off family. Things are better now that I'm back at Hogwarts."

Charity smiled softly. "You're awfully optimistic for a Slytherin." She commented.

"I get that a lot, my mother is Ravenclaw and I got most of her knowledge and optimism." He pulls out a picture of his mother, she was standing with the Ravenclaw crest against the wall. "Her name was Penelope Sharpe, but everyone called her Pelly"

"She's beautiful." Charity leaned over to look at the picture. "You're right...Allie does have her face." She smiled softly. "So what, pray tell, landed you in Slytherin?"

He takes out another picture out, it was of his father. "My father, he was a Slytherin and I would have done anything to make him proud. I was almost put in Ravenclaw, but I asked for Slytherin for my father. I'm not exactly evil, but I have a part that makes me evil." He smirks.

Charity looked up at him, one eyebrow raised. "You don't look evil..." She mumbled, then looked down at the picture.

He puts both pictures next to each other, "Some people don't look it, but they are. Allie is evil, yet she looks exactly like my mother and my mother is not evil." He puts places his picture of Allie on the table under the photos, the one Raven gave him. She was smiling and turning, he bet Allie didn't even know this picture was taken. "Look at that face and tell me if you see Evil."

"I never did." Charity replied softly, enthralled with the pictures. "My brother doesn't look evil, either."

He takes his photos away, "Tell me about your family... Mother first?"

"I haven't got any pictures." Charity said sadly. "My mother was...my best friend. She died in a flash flud, though. So did my dad. I was 18. She looked like my brother, but I have her hair." A small smile formed on her lips when she thought about them. "She was very lively. A spiritual witch...not magical. She always had a sense of humor and it was a rare moment that I saw her without a smile."

Brayden nods his head in agreement, "That was my mother as well. Your mother believed in Magic but couldn't perform it, muggle.. am I right?" He smiles at her, he didn't mind muggles, "What about your father?"

Charity nodded. "He was a muggle, as well." She admited and waited a moment. "You're not going to throw hexes and death-threats at me like every other slytherin I meet, are you?"

He shakes his head, "Why would I do that, I have respect for muggle-borns. What were they like? Do you remember?"

Charity nodded. "Yes...I do." She smiled. "My dad was a lot like my mum, but her witchcraft scared him a bit. He was afraid she would curse him...turn him into a toad and all that. When I got my letter, he tried to be happy for me, but I knew he was scared. But he was supportive. Mum was thrilled. Mostly because she was right about magic actually existing." She laughed softly.
